While Wall St continues to speak of recovery, Main St continues to fear a "double-dip" recession.  Since the dismal stock market lows of March 2009, record fiscal stimulus, unprecedented money printing, and monolithic "Too Big to Fail" bailouts have produced an impressive 62% rebound on Wall St, though this is still about 25% below the 2007 all-time, nominal high.  In the meantime, on

326 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year, passing last year's record of 317.  56 more troops were killed in August, while President Obama and General Petraeus continue to warn of higher casualty counts over the next several months.

If Democrats lose seats as expected in this year's Senate and House elections, they will have earned it. And the blame lies squarely on the President's shoulders. Barack Obama came to office determined to be a new Lincoln. What I believe we needed was a new FDR.

Despite flowery speeches, discussions of "transition", and 50,000 "non-combat" troops remaining, America is still losing men and women and spending tens of billions of dollars in Iraq.  And as violence escalates once again, and a new government remains elusive nearly six months after parliamentary elections, some worry that U.S. forces may have to resume "combat" operations.

By September 1, President Obama pledges to have only 50,000 "non-combat" troops stationed in Iraq to assist with security oversight.  Currently, about 65,000 U.S.

With a federal judge striking key provisions of Arizona’s immigration law, the Obama administration proclaimed victory along with labor union allies.  Labor unions have been some of the staunchest opponents of the Arizona law and strongest advocates of a fast track legalization process. <

According to The Wall Street Journal, Rep. Dennis Kucinich and Rep. Ron Paul are introducing debate on the House floor this week to address America's increasing military intervention in Pakistan. 

The LA Times reports that anti-SB 1070 activists are attempting capitalize on Latino voter anger over Arizona’s immigration law, by working to transform Hispanic sentiment into ballot box dividends for Democrats in the coming election.  “Activists hope that SB 1070, which Republican Gov.

Based on several early polls in July, our nation remains polarized over President Obama, frustrated with Congressional performance, and pessimistic about the future. 

In a speech touting the need for immigration reform, President Obama offered more of the same polarizing rhetoric typical of the contemporary Washington environment.  Ultimately, he blames Republicans if the reform effort fails, even though some Democrats aren't on board.
